Southampton doesn't match the rest of our territory, and that matters more than a lot of area pages let on. Across the broader service area we cover from Springfield, the median home was built around 1965. Out here, the median is 1981 - a solid sixteen years newer. That gap changes what's behind the door.
A house built in the mid-60s usually came with a single-piece slab door on side-mounted hardware, if it hasn't already been swapped out. A house built in 1981 was far more likely to ship with a sectional steel door and a center-mounted torsion spring, the setup that's still standard today. So when we get a call from Southampton, we're not walking in expecting the same parts we'd expect closer to Springfield or in some of the older east-side neighborhoods.
The cold is the other constant. This is a severe cold climate band, and it doesn't care what year your house was built. Steel contracts in January the same way whether the door went up in 1968 or 1988. What differs is how the door was built to handle it - insulation, weatherstripping, and whether the panel is a single skin or has a foam core.
